About the brand
The story of Lavazza begins in 1885 when twenty-five-year-old Luigi Lavazza moved to Turin. Here, he decided to set up his own business, but first, he wanted to gain as much experience as possible, so he worked as a stock clerk and did other similar jobs. Lavazza was founded in 1895 in Turin but was initially a general merchandise shop. Only later did Luigi start roasting coffee in his shop and since then Lavazza has continued to create unique innovations and traditions. Already in 1915, the company was one of the most important coffee importers and roasters in Italy. It was Lavazza that revolutionized the material used for coffee packaging, called parchment, which preserves not only the aroma but also the smell of fresh coffee. In 1946, Aerostudio Borghi created the Lavazza logo, and thus the packaging of this excellent coffee became easily recognizable throughout the market. In 1965, the production line of Settimo Torinese, which to this day is the largest roastery in Europe, came into operation. About six years later, Lavazza introduced the first vacuum-packed coffee in aluminum foil, which set it apart from other companies. In the 1980s, Lavazza expanded into the international market and in 1997 received the ISO 9001 quality certificate.
