Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee is produced from the Yirgacheffe region. The town of Yirgacheffe (also known as Irgachefe) is nestled at an elevation of 1,900 meters above sea level. This is a land famous for its lush, green tea hills and is the homeland of the renowned Yirgacheffe coffee.
At this elevation, coffee plants must work harder and develop more to bear fruit. The coffee cherry maturation time is therefore longer than normal. But this allows the coffee to absorb more nutrients and develop a richer flavor.
The Konga village, located in the Yirgacheffe district, Gedeo zone, in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' (SNNP) region of Ethiopia. This area has for many years developed a remarkable reputation for exceptional coffee, producing some of the most sought-after lots in the world. The combination of high altitude (up to 2,200m in some areas), fertile soil, abundant and consistent rainfall, and the rich local knowledge all contribute to the esteemed status of Yirgacheffe coffee.
