The Pulcina coffee maker, designed by Michele de Lucchi, is a revolutionary moka pot that combines technology developed by illycaffè with the design expertise of Alessi. It was launched at the 2015 London Design Festival. The espresso moka pot is named Pulcina, which means "chick" in Italian.
Made of die-cast aluminum, Pulcina encapsulates a significant design innovation: its shape allows you to brew a perfect cup of coffee! Pulcina originates from a study entirely dedicated to the design and functionality of espresso coffee machines. For this reason, it is also referred to as the "Pulcina Alessi coffee maker."

Instructions for Use

1. Fill the lower chamber with filtered water (preferably warm) up to the safety valve.
2. Add medium-fine ground espresso coffee to the filter funnel, taking care not to compress it. Clean any coffee grounds on the edge of the funnel.
3. Place the filter funnel on top of the lower chamber, then screw the two parts together tightly (without gripping the handle).
4. Choose a heat source that fits the base of the Moka coffee maker. If using a gas stove, adjust the flame so that it doesn’t extend beyond the base of the pot, and avoid flames touching the sides.
5. Heat until the water boils and coffee rises into the upper chamber. You will hear a bubbling sound during this process.
6. Once the coffee has filled the upper chamber, immediately remove the pot from the heat. The brown crema layer will only appear for a few seconds before the coffee is fully brewed.
7. Before pouring the coffee out, stir it with a spoon to mix the different layers of coffee for optimal flavor.

Care Instructions

• Wash the Moka pot by hand with warm water; do not use abrasive pads, nylon scrubbers, or dishwashing liquids to avoid scratching and wearing the pot.
• Dry it immediately with a clean cloth to prevent discoloration.
• Do not assemble the parts until they are completely dry to avoid oxidation of the aluminum.
• Do not use in a dishwasher.
