Bourbon (pronounced /Burr-Bone/) originated from the Bourbon Island (now called Reunion Island), where the French first planted this coffee variety around 1708. Bourbon is considered one of the two major branches of the Arabica species, with the other being Typica.
Bourbon Arabica is distinguished by its well-rounded and delicate flavor profile, which modern Arabica varieties often struggle to match, combined with a refined acidity and a smooth mouthfeel.
One of the reasons Bourbon is so appealing to coffee enthusiasts is its distinctive aroma of sweet chocolate and caramel, along with a subtle winey aftertaste.
This region is considered the "paradise" for Brazilian coffee beans of the Bourbon variety.
