Arabica was introduced to Vietnam by the French in the 1930s. Lam Dong Province, with localities such as Di Linh, Bao Loc, Don Duong, and the suburbs of Da Lat, especially the Cầu Đất area, is considered a paradise for Arabica coffee in Vietnam. With "golden indicators" such as an altitude of 1,500 meters, a temperate climate that remains cool year-round, a maximum annual temperature not exceeding 33°C, and a minimum temperature of 5°C, this region produces the highest quality Arabica coffee in the country. The higher the altitude, the cooler the climate, which contributes to the exceptional quality of Arabica beans.
In 1989, Vietnam achieved its first success by bringing the Arabica Catimor variety (a hybrid of Timor and Caturra from Portugal) to the country. With its resistance to pests and high yield, this coffee variety laid the groundwork for elevating Vietnam's coffee industry on the global market.
